Great Faith Equals Much Grace!
by Charlie Rogers
Sometimes I think we forget as to how
our God in heaven does work. Many times
over I see believers give the impression
that all they have to do is snap their
fingers and everything in heaven and
earth moves on their behalf. Even though
He is a merciful and gracious God; we
are no longer required by the Law of
Moses to do certain things to have
certain things in our life. Everything
has been given to us through His
precious grace, it is by His grace.
However, we must access
His wonderful grace.
Even the
moment that we were born again, and we
gave our life to God He was a faith God;
we had to believe to be saved.
Everything about Him works through
faith; even though we try to put
everyone back under the law. But, it’s
by His grace and the truth is that He is
a faith God.
John 1:17
for the law was given through Moses, but
grace and truth came through Jesus
Christ. NKJV
Rom 10:4 For
Christ is the end of the law for
righteousness to everyone who believes. NKJV
So now,
we have you could say, a different mode
of exchange for the things of God
instead of practices and ordinances of
the Law. To obtain what God has, there
is a different way to go about it. First
of all you have to accept what the word
of God says, which is that He fulfilled
the law and it has come to an end. To
those who believe, everything has been
freely given to us at the cross, that’s
the grace and truth that came through
Him. That’s His grace, that it is freely
given, we don’t deserve it, we can’t
earn it, God the Father freely gave His
Son the Lord Jesus Christ and with it
all things that we could ever want or
need. We don’t have to slaughter sheep
and spill their blood as the Jews did
under the Law of Moses to have our sins
taken care of. Jesus died for them and
we were freely given His forgiveness and
cleansing, that’s a part of His grace.
Rom 5:1-2
Therefore, having been justified by
faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom
also we have access by faith into this
grace in which we stand, and rejoice in
hope of the glory of God. NKJV
So what
grace is he talking about here? He is
talking about the grace supplied at the
cross. He is talking about our
salvation; he is also talking about
everything that came with our salvation.
And instead of the Law and its
ordinances in order to obtain this
grace, we are to access what was so
freely given at the cross by FAITH. All
we have to do is believe that He did
what He said He did. That’s the only
requirement. That’s our mode of
accessing or having what God gave us.
Heb
11:1-2 Now faith
is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen. 2 For
by it the elders obtained a good
testimony. NKJV
Heb 11:6 But
without faith it is impossible to please
Him, for he who comes to God must
believe that He is, and that He is a
rewarder of those who diligently seek
Him. NKJV
Once
again we find how important faith is; it
is the essence of everything that God
is. That’s how the elders in the old
days obtained a good testimony. It was
by the faith that they walked in and
exercised. They walked by what they
could not see including that someday God
was going to provide His own lamb that
would wash away the sins of the world (For
those who believe).
It
pleases God for us to believe Him and
that we believe He will do what He says
He will do. As I have said our whole
foundation from the very beginning was
built on faith. Not only does He tell us
what pleases Him, which is faith, but He
also tells us how to obtain it and
increase our faith. We start out with a
mustard seed of faith, a tiny bit, just
enough faith to go looking for God. Then
when we seek Him out He shows and tells
us in His Word how to grow and develop
the faith that we have.
Rom 10:17 So then
faith comes by hearing, and hearing by
the word of God. NKJV
So when
we seek God though His word He promises
us that He will reward us. How? By
increasing our faith, the faith that is
necessary to access His grace that was
provided at the cross for every area of
our lives where there is a need. So not
only is He a God that provides
everything we will ever need through His
grace at the cross, but He also tells us
how to access it and grow in it. Do
you realize how wonderful and merciful
God is?
Josh 1:8 This Book
of the Law shall not depart from your
mouth, but you shall meditate in it day
and night, that you may observe to do
according to all that is written in it.
For then you will make your way
prosperous, and then you will have good
success. NKJV
So we
find that if we seek God out we receive
more faith and the way to seek Him out
is through His word. That’s how faith
comes, by hearing the word of God.
That’s why one of the tools of
meditating God’s word, called confession
is so important. As we are confessing
God’s word out loud we are not moving
God, but we are moving ourselves out of
doubt and unbelief, and increasing our
faith in Him and what He has done for
us.
We can
also meditate the word of God by reading
whole chapters and even whole Books of
the Bible over and over. As that word
comes alive in our hearts, God is
revealed to us and in turn our faith is
increased. We are then able to access
more of His wonderful grace that He
provided for you and I to walk in on a
daily basis.
Eph
5:17-19
Therefore do not be unwise, but
understand what the will of the Lord is.
18 And do not be drunk with wine, in
which is dissipation; but be filled with
the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart
to the Lord, NKJV
In the
process of accessing His grace, we find
His will for all areas of our lives. His
will is for us to have enough faith or
all the faith necessary to access His
grace He so freely gave for our entire
lives. These scriptures are talking
about worship both private and
corporate. As we submerse ourselves
spirit and soul into His presence
through worship, we begin to increase
our faith because we are in the presence
of faith itself, because God is faith.
Another tool to increase or grow our
faith to maturity is worship.
Jude
20-21 But you,
beloved, building yourselves up on your
most holy faith, praying in the Holy
Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love
of God, looking for the mercy of our
Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
NKJV
Try as
hard as the devil may to deceive away
the gift of praying in other tongues in
some circles, it still is one of the
most important things you can do to
build up and grow your faith. That
explains why many have spent a life of
praying in other tongues and entered
into many of the things that God has
supplied through His grace. It is
because as we pray in other tongues we
are building ourselves up on our holy
faith leaving behind doubt and unbelief
we have in our lives. Therefore,
enabling us to access more and more of
His grace.
Matt
17:19-21 Then
the disciples came to Jesus privately
and said, "Why could we not cast it
out?" 20 So Jesus said to them, "Because
of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say
to you, if you have faith as a mustard
seed, you will say to this mountain,
'Move from here to there,' and it will
move; and nothing will be impossible for
you. 21 However, this kind does not go
out except by prayer and fasting." NKJV
Here the
disciples are asking Jesus why they
could not cast the demon out of the
young boy and Jesus said because of
their unbelief. What is standing between
us and all of His grace? For each person
it is something different that the devil
has picked out to use against us. God
our gracious Father wants us to have it
all, the devil our enemy and his cohorts
does not, and is determined to keep us
from God’s grace. So we see that not
only is prayer (which is once again
fellowship with our Father) another tool
to increase our faith, but also fasting.
Fasting puts the flesh and its desires
in the place it’s been declared which is
dead. Also as you fast you begin to get
rid of that subtle (elusive) doubt and
unbelief that will keep you from having
all that God has for you.
I know
you thought like I did at one time that
us preachers were preaching the things
we covered in this teaching just to have
something to preach. All we’ve been
doing is applying meditation, confession
of His word, worship, prayer and fasting
in order to develop our
faith, to exercise our faith that we
might access more and more of the grace
of God.
Mark
9:23 Jesus
said to him, "If you can believe, all
things are possible to him who
believes."
My
friends He already did it all 2000 years
ago and His grace is that He turned
around and gave it all to you. To
receive His grace all we have to do is
believe, and He provided the tools
necessary to develop our believing. He
can’t go around you but He can help you
develop your faith.
